Fluctuations and Noise in Time - Resolved Light Scattering Experiments : Measuring Temporally Heterogeneous Dynamics

چکیده
Received (received date) Revised (revised date) Accepted (accepted date) We use Time Resolved Correlation (TRC), a recently introduced light scattering method, to study the dynamics of a variety of jammed, or glassy, soft materials. The output of a TRC experiment is c I (t, τ), the time series of the degree of correlation between the speckle patterns generated by the light scattered at time t and t + τ. We characterize the fluctuations of c I by calculating their Probability Density Function, their variance as a function of the lag τ , and their time autocorrelation function. The comparison between these quantities for a Brownian sample and for jammed materials indicate unambiguously that the slow dynamics measured in soft glasses is temporally heterogeneous. The analogies with recent experimental, numerical and theoretical work on temporal heterogeneity in the glassy dynamics are briefly discussed.

Investigation of q-dependent dynamical heterogeneity in a colloidal gel by x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy.
We use time-resolved x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy to investigate the slow dynamics of colloidal gels made of moderately attractive carbon black particles. We show that the slow dynamics is temporally heterogeneous and quantify its fluctuations by measuring the variance chi of the instantaneous intensity correlation function. The amplitude of dynamical fluctuations has a nonmonotonic de...

We show by means of experiments, theory, and simulations that the slow dynamics of coarsening systems displays dynamic heterogeneity similar to that observed in glass-forming systems. We measure dynamic heterogeneity via novel multipoint functions which quantify the emergence of dynamic, as opposed to static, correlations of fluctuations. Experiments are performed on a coarsening foam using tim...
متن کاملTime Resolved Correlation: a new tool for studying temporally heterogeneous dynamics
We introduce a new scheme to investigate temporally heterogeneous dynamics, which is termed Time Resolved Correlation (TRC). TRC is applied to data obtained by Diffusing Wave Spectroscopy probing the slow dynamics of a strongly aggregated colloidal gel. Other examples of TRC data, collected for different jammed materials in single and multiple scattering, are provided to demonstrate the wide ra...

This is done by injecting light into the medium and measuring the photon intensity at the surface of the tissue.Method: In this paper the different medical applications, various imaging and simulation techniques of NIRS imaging is described. ...
متن کاملSingle-molecule photon stamping FRET spectroscopy study of enzymatic conformational dynamics.
The fluorescence resonant energy transfer (FRET) from a donor to an acceptor via transition dipole-dipole interactions decreases the donor's fluorescent lifetime. The donor's fluorescent lifetime decreases as the FRET efficiency increases, following the equation: E(FRET) = 1 - τ(DA)/τ(D), where τ(D) and τ(DA) are the donor fluorescence lifetime without FRET and with FRET. Accordingly, the FR...
